Dewey Burgess Box was born May 24, 1928 in Pine Valley, Arkansas, the son of Archie W. Box and Irma J. (Manning) Box. He had lived in the Valliant, OK area for most of his life.
He departed this life on November 21, 2014 at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 28 days.
Dewey married Edna Cain on July 14, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico.
He joined the Navy in 1947 and had worked all of his life. He had enjoyed working on anything, whether or not it was broken. He believed that he could improve whatever it might have been in one way or another.
Being self-educated, Dewey changed the landscape in the Valliant, Oklahoma area with his ability to operate heavy equipment, moving lots of dirt and working concrete.
He also enjoyed going to deer-camp to hunt, playing cards and spending time around the fire with his family and freinds.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Irma Box; one brother, Delbert Box; two sisters, Mildred Hancox and Pat Julian and one son-in-law, Jerry Keeling.
He was survived by his wife, Edna (Cain) Box; three daughters, Debra Harcrow and husband, Terry, Sherry Box and Freda Keeling; one son, Lawrence Box; three grandchildren; Derick Keeling and wife, Amy; DeChae Morgan and husband, Jake; and Faith Box; three great grandchildren; Jaylen and Jett Keeling and Braylen Matchen, all of Valliant, Oklahoma; two step-grandchildren, Sean Keeling and wife Sandy and Tera Whitehead; three step-great grandchildren, Cendie Thompson and husband, Lex, Kacee Keeling and Kody Keeling; two step-great-great grandchildren, MacKenzie Homan and Lexis Thompson; along with a host of other family and friends.
