Son of Thomas Proctor(1698-1774) & his wife Hannah Baron(1703-1774)

Leonard was 1st a Selectman of Westford, Massachusetts in 1770, 1778 & 1779.

Leonard was 2nd Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War under Capt. Minot's Company & marched from Westford, Massachusetts to the Lexington Alarm of 4/19/1775. He was one of the Committee of Correspondence for 1780, to " to take under consideration the New Form of Government" Later, in 1781 he became a Captain in 1781.
He was at the Battles of Lexington, Trenton, NJ & Monmouth, NJ.

After the Revolution, he moved to Cavendish, Windsor County, Vermont, where he became a Freeman in 1782. In 1784 & 1785 he became a was a selectman. In the unbroken forest near Cavendish He founded Proctorsville.
" He was a Man of Great Force & Character "

He & his family & relatives are buried in the Proctor Cemetery.
