Asahel (Azel, Asa and other spellings) was the son of Joseph and Olive (Hazen) Hutchins, born Apr 15 1840 in North Hero VT .
In 1862 he married Luana (Louisa, Lusana) Pettit daughter of Thomas and Jane Pettit in North Hero. They traveled west, living in Iowa and eventually moving to Washington, where he died Dec 6 1910 in Snohomish.

Israel H. Hutchings, a veteran of the civil war, died at 6 o'clock last night at his home near the Central school. The time for holding the funeral will not be set until word is received from a daughter in Mt.
12/10/1910
The funeral of Isiel Hutchings will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the family residence on Central School hill. Interment in G.A.R. cemetery.
