Neldon Lorenzo Christensen, 90, passed away on November 13, 2014 at EIRMC, surrounded by his family.
Neldon was born May 05, 1924 to Leonard L. Christensen and S. Esther Gardner, in Shelley, Idaho and grew up on a farm in Shelley, and continued farming until his passing.
Neldon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Julia C. Spaulding on November 10, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They just celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Neldon was a track runner and captain of the Shelley High School Basketball team. He was also president of the FFA. After graduating from Shelley High School with high honors, Neldon farmed his father's farm in the summer and drove school bus for the Shelley School District during the winter months. After the death of his father, Neldon purchased the family farm. Neldon was also awarded farmer of the year in May of 1986.
Neldon loved to spend time with his family from traveling, camping and family barbecues. Neldon loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandkids.
Neldon is survived by his wife Julia, and his children, Brent Christensen, Tracy (Joyce) Christensen, Clark Christensen, Julie Ann (Ray) Saunders all of Shelley, Idaho, DeNece (Terry) Browning of Roy, Utah. Neldon has 23 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. Sister's Dorothy Kotter and Monta Kidman.
Neldon was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Wayne, Wesley, Dennis, and Tom, two sisters, Elnora, Oleva Martins, and a grandson Troy Christensen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Shelley Fifth Ward Chapel (513 S Park Ave). The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 till 8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Tuesday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
