Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hansen Chapel for a former Marshfield resident Leonard J. Smith, 95, who died Friday at the Edgewater Haven in Port Edwards, where he resided the past 11 years.

The Rev. Wesley Dafoe, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be made in Hillside cemetery. Visitations may be made at the Hansen Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born in Dodge County in Wisconsin on Jan. 22, 1875. He lived there until his marriage to Emma Cunday at Iron Ridge, Wis. on Sept. 9, 1897. She preceded him in death June 12, 1944.

After their marriage the couple came to Marshfield. During their residence here, Mr. Smith had been employed at the Tiffault and Kamps Mercantile Company, and had operated his own grocery store on the south side of the city. Later he was employed at Blum Brothers until he retired in 1947.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Alfred H. Smith, Wausau, three daughters, Mrs. Hilmer (Alma) Gallatin, Milwaukee; Mrs. Arthur (Ellen) Scheel, Wausau, and Mrs. Arnold (Carol) Oestreich, Loyal; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a sister.

He was also preceded in death by two sons and 11 brothers and sisters.
