Max's grandparents were Christoph Freiderich Lorenz Thaler (Fritz) and Karoline Boeger, both b. in Germany. Fritz came to NY in 1848, returned to Germany in 1860 and returned to Texas in 1867. He died in Austin Co. Texas (see: his history at findagrave memorial #31591941). Max was the first son of Frederick Wilhelm (Willy) Thaler and Albertina Ernestina Unnasch. His parents married January 7, 1894 in Williamson Co., Texas. About 1900, when his sister Renate Milly Lina was born, the family acquired about 94 acres in Milam County and settled into farming their own land after renting and farming other properties. The children of Willy and Albertine were: Max L. (probably was for Lorenz)who married Clara Paseman, Herbert Oskar Robert who married Ella A. Walther, Renate Milly Lina, who married Adolf Gustav Weise, and Martin Max Gus Thaler who married Dortha Jean Jay of Lexington, Texas. All the children continued to farm in the area, except for the youngest son, Martin, who after WWII, married and went into Civil Service work at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas.
