Mary Ann Wright was likely b. in Battalions 2 and 4 or Lexington Side, Rowan, North Carolina, based on the 1820 census. Over the years, that area later became what is now known as Silver Hill, Davidson County, NC.
Documents exist showing that Mary Ann first married abt 1836 in [prob] Davidson County, NC to Zebedee Gaddis. Zebedee died in August of 1842 - there were no children. She married Thomas Varker [of England] on 31 Oct 1842. They had the following children:
James Thomas Varker - 1843 – 1919
William Henry Varker - 1845 – 1864 [died at Gettysburg battle]
Elizabeth J Varker - 1847 – 1900
Mary Jenetta Varker - 1849 – 1902
John Goninan Varker - 1852 – 1915
Ruth Caroline Varker - 1854 – 1913
Mary Ann's exact date of death is unknown; however, correspondence written by a granddaughter indicates she died in 1890, but specific date is still unknown.
No grave site has been found for Mary Ann and Thomas Varker; however, it is highly probable that they are buried in this Wright Family Cemetery.
It is believed that at least 25 people are buried in this cemetery, but their names are forever lost......
