Georgia Ruth Carroll, 90, of Hewitt, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Scott and White Hospital. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, November 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Brad Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park.

Georgia was born in Emmett, Texas, to the late Otto P. and Mary Prater Northern. She graduated from Frost High School where she excelled as a member of the varsity basketball team. She was also a member of Central United Methodist Church in Waco and the Galilean Sunday School Class. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Marvin, enjoyed extensive travel to all 48 continental United States and the Canadian provinces, developing lifelong friendships wherever they traveled. She loved playing table games with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Marvin Dale Carroll; and six brothers.

Survivors include her sons, Gary L. Carroll, of Hewitt, Texas, and Brett D. Carroll and wife, Robin, of Waco; daughter, Joella R. Wininger and husband, James, of Belton, Texas; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Schrader, of Avalon, Texas; sister-in-law, Imogene Northern, of Cincinnati, Ohio; other relatives and many friends.
