Doris Mae Elliott died Dec. 22, 2007 after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer's, yet she never ceased to love laughter and the color pink. Born Dec. 31, 1921 in Waynoka, the youngest daughter of Charles F. and Dora M. Bixler; graduated from Waynoka High in 1940. Vivacious and funloving, Doris was married for 67 years to the love of her life, Hubert Forrest Elliott. They raised two sons, first in Western OK and later in OKC where Doris was in fashion retail downtown at Al Rosenthal's and Hubert owned and ran Whirlwind Cleaners. She was a 55-year charter member of the Eastern Star and member of St. Luke's Methodist Church; survived by Hubert; sons and their wives, Herb and Jeanine Elliott of Broken Arrow and Rand and Jeanette Elliott of OKC; granddaughter Kari Sweeden, Bixby and grandson Kevin Elliott, McAlester. Services will be held Thurs., Dec. 27 at 12:30 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Chapel in Broken Arrow with visitation the night before from 5-7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris' name to the Alzheimer's Association.
