Rachel Nichols
Rachel Nichols, died Sunday, Sept. 1,2002, at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, MO.
She was 83
Nichols was born Oct. 25,1918, Delaware Co., Oklahoma, to John and Nancy (Dildene) Hyde. She lived in the Mt. Hermon Community from 1973 to 1987 and in Jay for 13 years before moving to Joplin in 2000.
During World War 11, she worked at the Pryor Ammunition Plant. In 1960, she started working at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, where she worked for 10 years.
She married Kyle H. Nichols Oct. 26,1945. He preceded her in death August 17,1981.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Donald E. Allen of Kiowa, Kyle D. and Lynn Nichols, and Ronald Dean and Patty Nichols, all of Joplin; a daughter, Roberta J. Mancuso of Jay; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service is 10 a.m. Sept.4 at Mt. Hermon Cemetery with Kenneth Hill officiating.
