Clifford Orr Brookhart died October 31, 2014 in Boulder Community Hosptal from complications related to cancer. Cliff grew up in Lamar, CO. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a B.S. degree in biology and went on to earn a master's degree in science eduacation from Michigan State University and a doctorial degree from University of Northern Colorado in educational administration. Cliff had a long and valued career as a respected educational leader in Colorado. His desire to create stong, public schools led him to serve at the state and local level in countless ways. Cliff's dedication to helping young people thrive and learn led him to teach science at Rocky Ford High School, CO and Cabrillo Senior High School in Lompoc, CA. He served as a school assistant princial at Kearney Junior High School, Commerce City, CO. and principal at Longmont Senior High School. Cliff served as the school superintendent in Weld County District RE-1 and Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs. Cliff impacted many future educational leaders through his leadership and teaching at the University of Denver and University of Northern Colorado.

Cliff treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Brookhart and five children: Lisa Beasley (Ray), Bakersfield, CA; Toni Erickson (Brian) Stilwell,KS; Amy Levinson, Denver, CO; Megan Hanauer (Matt), Louisville, CO; Drew (Anne) Basalt, CO. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Tim and Lauren McConnell, Ashley and Sara Erickson, Jake and Kate Levinson, Rowen and Lucy Hanauer and a great granddaughter he had yet to meet: Emma McConnell. He is survived by his brothers, Bryon Brookhart, Parker, CO and Don Brookhart, Gold Hill, CO. He was preceded by his parents Harry and Irene Brookhart.

Cliff was a man of deep compassion; he was profoundly committed to help others learn. He was shaped and shaped others with his keen intelligence, love of nature, animals and humanity, A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1128 Pine St., Boulder CO, 80303, Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:30 am.
