New London Man Dies After Illness of Five Years.

New London. - Charles Henry Gabbert passed away Saturday evening about 8:30 at his home south of New London after an illness of about five years. Mr. Gabbert was born March 18, 1871, in New London, the son of Archibald and Elizabeth Gabbert. On October 29, 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Hobbs. Six children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy.

Mr. Gabbert was a blacksmith here for about forty years, learning his trade when 14 years of age under Henry Hampton. He retired from his blacksmith trade and operated a dairy until about a year ago when ill health caused him to give it up.

He is survived by the wife and three children. One son, Harry, of Cedar Rapids and two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Cochran of Fairfield and Mrs. Aletha Pendry of Burlington; four grandsons, and one brother, Delbert Gabbert, of New London.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at one o'clock at the McDowell funeral home in charge of Rev. Fred Emerson, pastor of the Christian church. Burial was in Burge cemetery with Chas. Holmes, Frank Bonar, Ed Roederer, Mark Murray, Ralph Eckey and Milton McCabe as pallbearers.
