Margurette M. Bass, 88, passed away Nov. 6, 2014. She was born in Perryton, Texas, to the late Tom and Eva Seay. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ervie Seay, LeRoy Seay, Laverne Seay and Millie Parrill.
Margurette married Clay Russow, in 1943, who preceded her in death in 1963, as well as one child, George, who died in 2001.
Surviving children include, Velma Quin and husband, Bob, David Russow and wife, Connie, Helen Johnson and husband, Danny, all of Joplin; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Bill Russow and his wife, JoAnne, Joplin, Frank Reynolds, Joplin; sisters- in-law, Nadene and Mona, of Decatur, Ark., Pat, of Joplin; and many nieces and nephews.
Margurette worked at the former Oak Hill Hospital, in accounting, for several years before retiring to farm life, in Carthage, when she married J.R. Bass, in 1978. He preceded her in death in 2005. His children, Velma Simmer, Perry, Iowa, and Carroll Bass, Carthage, survive.
She was a member of Duenweg Christian Church and of the Good Neighbor Club.
Margurette had resided at Spring River Christian Village for the past 3 years and the family would like to thank the staff and physicians who were so kind, making her final years happy ones.
Graveside services are planned for Monday at 10 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Spring River Christian Village or to Duenweg Christian Church, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
