Age 90 yr 8 mo 13 da. Son of Jacob Argabrite (1760 – 1853) and Mary Fifer Argabrite (1766 – 1850). He first married Elizabeth C. Hockman (1797 – 1860). Parents of: Mrs. Elizabeth Argabrite (1832 – 1912) wife of William Tannyhill Johnson (1825 – 1889), Mrs. Frances Argabrite Baker (1834 – 1905) wife of Henry W. Baker (1828 – 1910), and Jacob L. Argabrite (1841 – 1868). He then married Lydia Catherine "Liddy" Keeney-Charlton (1829 – 1897) on 24 Apr 1862 in Greenbrier County WV. Occupation: Farmer.
His siblings included: Betsy Argabrite Sydenstricker, Martin Argabrite, Mary Ann Argabrite Lewis (1791 - 20 May 1865), Catherine Argabrite Dunbar, John Argabrite, William Argabrite, Rebecca Argabrite Rodgers, Isaac Argabrite, Samuel Argabrite, and COL John Argabrite (17 Feb 1797 - 10 Dec 1884).

On Sunday, August 11th, 1895, at his residence on Muddy Creek, this county, in the vicinity of Alderson, Maj Abraham Argabrite died. Had he lived till the 28th of November he would have been 91 years old. Thus has passed away the oldest person in that neighborhood. He belonged to the generation next succeeding our revolutionary sires - his father having served in the war of independence. He is supposed to be the last member of a family of eleven children. He married twice, his first wife being Miss Elizabeth Hockman, the last, Mrs Lydia Charlton, yet living. Five children, four daughters and a son resulted. from the first marriage. Two daughters yet survive - Mrs Elizabeth Johnson, relict of the late Wm T Johnson, of Monroe county, and Mrs Frances Baker, wife of Mr H W Baker, of this county. Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive him. He was an affectionate parent, a kind, obliging neighbor and a sympathizing, generous friend to the sorrowing and the needy.
