Born in Monroe Coounty,he was son of the late Alpha and Flora Duncan (Butler)Bowman,and the husband of Verniece(Bartlet)Bowman,who survives. He was a retired farmer and a former magistrate of Monroe County.He served in the Marines during WW2,and participated in action at Cape Glooucester,New Britain, Guadalcanal, Okinawa, and the Palau Islands.He was wounded on Peleliu,and awarded the Purple Heart.He is survived by two daughers,Brenda Lee Veach and Permelia Rich,both of Bowling Green. Cecil Earl Bowman,Ind.,five sisters,Bertie Nell Thomas, Ruth Clayton,Lora Clayton,Flora Maude Bowman and Myrtie Cox,and a grandson Jason Paul Veach,Bowling Green,Ky.
