Alex Cushway, 80, of 701 Cushing St., died at 2:03 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital following an illness of several months. He was born in Bay City, Mich., on Aug. 20, 1881, and came to South Bend in 1923 from there.
On Oct. 2, 1949, in South Bend he married Betty Edith Stein, who survives.
Mr. Cushway was a retired carpenter. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Williams of California and Mrs. Ray Masters of Osceola; a son, Russell of Bay City; a stepdaughter, Mrs. George M. Parson, of South Bend; five stepsons, William Rash of Milwaukee, Robert Rash of Reedsville, N.C., and Carrol, Gleen and James Rash, all of Kokomo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Dalphine Seymor of Bay City and Mrs. Peter DeFord of Saginaw.
Mr. Cushway had been a member of Calvary Church since 1923.
