At age 88 Kathryn was taken to heaven to be with those that have gone before her including her loving husband Gerald Goeden, who proceeded her in death by two months. Kay, born Kathryn Gertrude Kraut, the daughter of Frank J. and Otillia (Graft) Kraut, was a lifelong resident of Spokane. She was the last surviving of nine children. Kay attended Marycliff High School and graduated from John Rogers High School in 1941. She met her husband Jerry in the summer and they were married in January of 1942 at St. Patrick's church. Shortly thereafter, Jerry joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in India during WWII. After the war, Kay and Jerry made Spokane their home for 69 years of marriage.
Kay is survived by three children, Gayle (Gary) Hill of Spokane, Greg (Shannon) Goeden of Spokane, Therese (Michael) Killeen of Seattle. Her numerous grandchildren, Brian (Lissa) Solinsky of Puyallup, Thomas (Mary) Solinsky of Nashville, TN, Darin (Brooke) Solinsky of Snoqualmie, Shanna Hill (Caleb) of Portland, OR, Jason (Shanni)Hill of Orlando, FL, Steven (Rachael) Whitehill of Spokane, John Killeen, Katherine Killeen, Mary Killeen and James Killeen all of Seattle, and a growing number of great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Kay enjoyed various jobs and retired as a teller from WTB. She then took up golf. Kay was a member of the Wandermere Ladies Club and a Ladies Club in Mesa, AZ. Kay also loved to garden, sew and entertain family and friends. She will be missed dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Kay August 13th, 10:30 am, at St. Thomas More Church, 515 W. St. Thomas More Way, Spokane.
