Alice D. Ackles, 89, of Syracuse died Nov.28. Born in Utica, she graduated from Central High School. She retired in 1979 as a secretary for Syracuse Builders Exchange. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Eastern Star 433, United Methodist Women and was a charter member and past president of Valley VIPs. Her first husband, Donald G. Sharpe, died in 1974; her second husband, Melvin Ackles, died in 1998. Survivors: two nieces, Carolyn Davis of Syracuse and Kathryn Marple of Cicero; a nephew, Donald Davis of Baldwinsville. Services: 11:30 AM Tues. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Private burial Cardiff Cemetery.
