Linwood "Wood" Joseph Esponge, 90, native of Golden and resident of Galliano passed away October 20, 2014.

Visitation will take place on October 22, at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on October 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano from 9:00 a.m. till funeral time. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in Cheramie Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Irma "Mae" C. Esponge; son, Darryl Esponge and wife Gladys; daughters, Elaine Esponge Fillinich and husband Dick, Linda Esponge Garlington, and Marilyn Esponge Parks; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Esponge, George Esponge, Ramis Esponge, Clifton Esponge, Robinson Esponge, and sisters Lolita Esponge Gisclair and Gladys Esponge Tauzin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave Esponge and Celima Guidry Esponge; grandchild Chase Esponge; son-in-law Dwaine B. Garlington, Sr. and Jerry C. Parks; brothers, Gustave Esponge Jr. and Clanis Esponge, and sisters Lena Esponge and Andrea Esponge Toups.
