Funeral Services Held Wednesday for Pioneer Matron
Funeral services for Mrs. Magdalena Losing, 82, pioneer mother and homesteader in this vicinity, were held from St. Paul's Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Losing had always enjoyed good health but she had been ailing for the past month. She died at the hospital in Conrad at 4 a.m. Sunday.
Magdalena was born Dec. 8, 1865, at Odessa, Russia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schrader. She received her education there and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.
In 1884 she was united in marriage with Henry Losing at Odessa. To this union were born eight boys and three girls. Two boys died in infancy.
The family came to the United States in 1900 and farmed near Tindal, S. Dak. In 1913 they moved to Montana to farm north of Cut Bank on the spread now owned by their son, Jacob. Henry Losing died in 1924.
Surviving are six sons--Henry, John, Rudolph, William and Jacob, of Cut Bank; and Conrad of Scotland, S. Dak.; three daughters, Mrs. Jacob Belke, Mrs. Ole Berkram, and Mrs. Steve Buynak, all of Cut Bank; two brothers, Fred Schrader of Calgary, Alta., and Jacob of Comb, Alta.; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Odenbach of Rimbey, Alta.; and Mrs. Fredrica Grime of Nampa, Idaho; 38 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
