MITTEL, Raymond C., 91, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at The Altenheim Retirement Community with his family by his side.
Raymond was a retired railroad worker for L & N Railroad; a St. Xavier High School alumnus and a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Church of the Incarnation; a charter member of the Grandpa and Granddaughters Club, and a member of the Rusty Wheels (retired L & N employees).
Preceding him in death were his parents, John H. and Mary Nante Mittel; his wife of 48 years, Lizabeth Groeble Mittel and his stepson, Captain Thomas E. Bratten, Jr., USA. Rick Mittel (Maxine)
Survivors include his children, Rick Mittel (Maxine), Linda Mittel, and Joe Mittel (Leslie); sister, Imelda “Tillie” Mittel. “Papa Ray Ray” achieved many milestones in his life, but his most cherished memories were his sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM Wednesday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road
