Richard is the son of Daniel Lott and Catherine "Cathy" Bowen. Cathy is buried in a family cemetery located near Sand Hill Church, Coffee Co., GA.

Richard died in a military hospital in Savannah, GA of measles. He was bought home and buried at the Broxton City Cemetery. His tombstone cannot be located.
