Leona was born on January 6, 1921 in Baynard, Nebraska; she was the daughter of the late John Jacob & Mary Katherine (Bender) Leis. She was educated in the schools of Nebraska & Wisconsin. She married John Majercik on January 10, 1948 in Chicago, IL. She was employed as a waitress at various restaurants throughout the years. Lee as her family &friends was would call her, was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many. She was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness member since 1958, reading the bible and studying literature that talked about the future paradise that the bible promises. She also taught those promises to others. Her hobbies included crocheting, talking about her farming experiences as a child, and staying in touch with family & friends.
Survivors include her son, John Michael (Sue) Majercik of Kenosha; and a sister, Elsie Kraft of Anderson, CA; She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1990, her brothers & sisters, Alex Leis, Andy Leis, Mary Leis, Melvin Leis, Eddie Roehrich, Paul Roehrich, Elma Roehrich, John Roehrich, Molly Leis, Conrad Leis, Ted Roehrich, Emma Roehrich, Herb Roehrich, Amelia Leis, Fred Roehrich, and Alex Roehrich.
A gathering time will be held on December 18, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7333-Green Bay Rd., from 3-4:00p.m. with services to follow at 4:00 p.m.
