Ardelle Lorene (Dillon) Sheets, 86, passed away Nov. 29, 2016, at her home in Loveland, Colorado, holding the love of her life’s hand.

She was born on June 27, 1930, to Loren LeRoy and Alice (Enevoldsen) Dillon on the Garfield Table near Gandy in Logan County. She was the oldest child in her family. Ardelle attended rural school through eighth grade and graduated from Arnold High School in 1947.

She then attended Kearney State Teacher’s College, now the University of Nebraska at Kearney, for two summers, while teaching rural schools for six years. She quit teaching in May 1953. Ardelle met many special families while teaching in rural Logan County schools. Some of her students were only three years younger than she was.

Ardelle married David Sheets on Dec. 26, 1952, at the Arnold United Methodist Church. To this union, three children were born, Carol, Tom and Steve, who passed away in 2012.

Ardelle, David and their two-month-old daughter, Carol, moved to Casper, Wyoming, in December 1953. She taught kindergarten in Casper from September 1961 through May 1965. She loved to read and passed the love of reading on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ardelle, David and children moved to Loveland, Colorado, on March 20, 1971, and they have lived in that same home since. Many wonderful memories were made in that home over all the years, and there are many more to come.

Preceding her in death were her son, Steve; brother, Jerry Dillon and his wife, Betty; sister, Janet and her husband, Harold Richards; as well as her parents.

Ardelle is survived by her husband, David of Loveland; daughter, Carol (Al) Ahnstedt; son, Tom Sheets; grandchildren, Nicole (Andrew) Vasquez, Chad (Sarah) Ahnstedt, Shawna (Scott) Cowen, Kaleena (Tanner) Kaiser and Jaimie (Daniel) Mohr; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and siblings, Russ (Cheryl) Dillon, Darrell (Ginger) Dillon, Craig (Marsha) Dillon and Alison Dillon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, at the Arnold United Methodist Church with Pastors Bill Williams and Irving Jennings officiating. Burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
