Old Time Hull Resident Dies at Sioux Center Home

Mrs. A. A. Roos, one of the real old pioneers of this section of Sioux County, died at her home in Sioux Center, last Friday, October 11, 1935.

She was the mother of Mrs. R. Bos Jr. of Hull, and also had many other near relatives in and around Hull.

The funeral was held Monday at Sioux Center.

The Index joins the many friends of the bereaved family in extending sincere sympathy.

Obituary
Mrs. A. A. Roos, nee Alice Schaap, mother of Mrs. R. Bos, died at Sioux Center at the age of 79 years and 1 month. Mrs. A. A. Roos was born in 1857 at Terschilling, Netherlands.

At the age of 11 years she came with her parents to America and settled near Freeport, Illinois, where they resided 5 years.

In 1873 they moved to Ackley, Iowa, where in the year 1876 she was united in marriage to Andrew Roos.

In 1885 they moved to Sioux County residing four miles west of Orange City.

To this union ten children were born of which in 1895 four children, three sons and one daughter, preceded her in death.

In 1907 they moved to Hull where they lived eleven years. In 1919 they moved near Rock Rapids and in 1920 they moved to Sioux Center, wher in August, 1927, her husband preceded her in death.

Those who remain to mourn her death are: Jennie, Mrs. John Beernink, of Sioux Center; Mary, Mrs. R. Bos, of Hull; Kate, Mrs. Richard Ver Meer, of Sioux Center; Neal Roos of Denver, Colorado; Winnie and John, at home; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Jake Schaap of Austinvllle, Iowa, and Cornelius Schaap of Hull, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. H. Schol of Hull, Iowa.

Other relatives surviving are: Mr. J.J. Schaap and children, John, Jake and Peter, and Mrs. Mary Harken and Mrs. T. Vrollink of Austinville, Iowa; Mr. John Koppendraayer, and Neal De Vries of Ackley; Mrs. Walter Neessen of Wellsburg, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Neesson of Winthrop, Minnesota; Mrs Arthur Neesson of lake Crystal, Minnesota; and Mrs. Jennie Reeves of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
