Mrs. Julia Gleason

WAVERLY-- Mrs. Julia Ann Gleason, 85, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, at the home of a son, Orville Mossbarger of Piketon Rt. 1 in the Bethel Community. She had been in ill health two years.

Mrs. Gleason was born in Scioto County Sept. 23, 1886, a daughter of Stewart and Nancy Carley Shonkwiler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kilbourne Gleason, and a daughter, Mrs. Clara Humble.

She was a member of the Fallen Timber United Brethren.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George McElhaney, Lucasville Rt. 1and Mrs. Harley Towell[sic], Otway Rt. 1; four sons, Orville and Ollie Mossbarger, Rushylvania, O.; Everett Mossbarger, Latham, and Herbert Mossbarger, Columbus; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Guy Mustard, Piketon Rt. 1; Mrs. Pearl Holland, Columbus; and Mrs. Frank Humble, Urbana.

Also surviving are three brothers, John Shonkwiler and Ollie Shonkwiler; both of New Boston; and James Shonkwiler, Stockport, O; a sister, Mrs. Eva Shonkwiler, Portsmouth; 39 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church in Bethel. Rev. Don Humble will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Howe Co. Funeral Home of Piketon is in charge of services.

Friends may call at the residence of Orville Mossbarger Friday until time for services.
