Velma Rose "Tater" Burk Laird, 89, of Berryville, Arkansas, died October 21, 2014 at the Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born June 5, 1925 at Red Star, Arkansas, the daughter of Ransom and Mary Samuels Eaton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Towering Oaks Church in Berryville, Arkansas. She was the widow of Clyde B. Burk and Arlis Laird. She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Ronnie Bell, three brothers, Ira Eaton, Cecil Eaton and Arlis Eaton, one sister, Milbra Parker and one grandson, Jeff Burk.

Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Douglas Burk and Donald and Leslie Burk, all of Kingston, Arkansas; one daughter, Martha Bell of Berryville, Arkansas; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, James and Janice Laird and Jerry and Debbie Laird, all of Huntsville, Arkansas; two stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Elda Kay and Don Cousins of Saint Paul, Arkansas and Dorothy Acuff of Springdale, Arkansas; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Lynville and Jan Eaton and Glen Eaton, all of Elkins, Arkansas; one sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Dale McClure of Fort Smith, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sixteen step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, October 25, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverends Larry Montgomery and Mitchell Scitern officiating. Interment will be in the Kingston Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Johnny Burk, Wayne Burk, Scott Burk, Cody Bell, Matthew Burk, Justin Laird, Tracy Cousins, Terry McCarty and David Burk. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. on Friday at the funeral home.
