Marjorie Helen Benoist Davis, 92, of Hollywood, Florida, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away on October 14, 2014 surrounded by family. Mrs. Davis was born on September 14, 1922 in her family home at 2003 Broadway, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She is survived by her son, Tom Davis, wife Maureen Davis and twin grandchildren, Sean and Meghan of Hollywood, Florida.

Other surviving family members include her Nieces and Nephew: Jeanne Grassinger and family of Shawnee, KS, Jack Benoist and family of Mt. Vernon, Il, Jane Raney and family of Mt. Vernon, Il, and Ann Benoist of Naples, Fl.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents the late Charles and Marie (Stein) Benoist, by her sister, Ardele Kinsey, her brother A. E, (Bud) Benoist and wife Shirley Benoist, nephew Jim Howie.

Marjorie attended Bradley University and University of Illinois. Following her college years she joined friends for adventure and travel. As young girls, her nieces idolized their Aunt for her adventurous nature. Marjorie bicycled through Europe and loved travel. She lived and worked in Washington DC, Arizona, Hawaii, and settled in Miami Florida where she met and married Bill Davis in 1960. She later split the year living in Maggie Valley, NC and Hollywood, Fl. She loved her Illinois family and traveled to see them and welcomed them to Florida and North Carolina. Marjorie had and still has a group of girls she met throughout her travels. On September 14th, Marjorie turned 92 surrounded by Sean, Meghan, Tom, Maureen and family. It was such a surprise and thrill for her to have the twins home from school to celebrate. The joy we all saw on her face will always be one of our fondest memories. She will be missed.
