Funeral services were held Sunday, November 29, at the Mission Covenant Church in Lund for Levi Edward Stein, son of Julia and Syver Stein, deceased. Pastor Arthur Bergman officiated. Adolph Julin gave a comforting message in behalf of the Swedish Bible class of which Mr. Stein was a member. Miss Edith Johnson and Mrs. Wallace Halling sang.
Levi Edward Stein was born March 8, 1880 in Stockholm. He received his confirmation instruction from Rev. Ragquist and learned to know the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior July 4, 1908 at the age of 20 years, under the ministry of Evangelist Kasa, a Norwegian, who held tent meetings at Clifford, North Dakota.
On January 6, 1903 he was united in marriage to Anna Emelia Swanson and to this union were born three sons and one daughter.
He was for many years a member of the choir of the Lund Church and for a time taught a Sunday School Class.
After an illness of about one month, being confined to the Plum City Hospital, he passed away, joining the church triumphant, November 26, at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 18 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; three sons, Henry and Roy of Pepin and Lawrence of Minneapolis and one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Edith) Cooke of Harcourt, Iowa, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Emil Julian of Lund and Mrs. John Peterson of Minneapolis and two brothers, Edwin of Red Wing and Wilford of Stockholm.
Pallbearers were David Hoffman, Roland Johnson, Arthur Sundberg, Carl Nelson, Walfred Wicklund and Adolph Julin.
Those from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Emory Gustafson and son Marvin, and Mrs. Nora Ryder of Harcourt, Iowa.
