Curtis Edwin Doan, 92, Lt. Col., USAF, Retired, a member of the greatest generation, of Waco, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, October 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2014, at the Lake Shore Church of Christ with Mr. Ernie Christie officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Lt. Col. Doan served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He married Alma Lucille "Lucy" Gray on December 8, 1943, in Archer City, Texas. After retirement, he worked for Steakley Bros. Chevrolet, for McLennan County Community College as a security guard, and for A. O. Smith as a supervisor. Curtis was a member of the Lake Shore Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Alan Doan; brothers, Chester and James; and sisters: Bessie, Nell, Mary, and Dorothy.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy, of Waco; son, Dale Doan and wife, Mary Nell, of Selma; daughter-in-law, Carol Doan, of San Antonio; grandchildren: Michael, Jason, Carrie and Chris; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Gatlin and husband, Curly, of Nashville, Tennessee; other relatives and many friends.
