BRIGHAM CITY- Nora Athalie Howell Allen, age 80, died March 6, 2001, with her oldest son David Mark Allen in a traffic accident outside of Phoenix, Arizona.

Athalie was born April 25, 1920, in Lincoln, Idaho. She was a daughter of Charles R. and Verna Hansen Howell. She was raised and educated primarily in Hyde Park Utah.

She married David Ethan Allen on December 23, 1938, in the Logan LDS Temple.

They made their home in American Fork, Utah and later in Brigham City.

Athalie was very talented musically; she played the piano and organ throughout her lile for various religious and social occasions from the time she was a teenager. She was always grateful to her step-father, Jack Matkin, for supponing her in this by paying for her piano lessons.

Wildlife and flowers particularly delighted Athalie. She enjoyed the many flowers in her yard in Brigham City and likewise the contrasting desert plant life of her home in Yuma, Arizona where she spent many winters.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, and getting together with friends and family for "a laughing
good time."

Athalie was a member of the Brigham City 5th Ward rhe Church of Jesus Christ of Lauer-day Saints.

She is survived by her children Robert Bruce (Janice) Allen; Dr. Michael E. (Julie) Allen; Athalie (Milt) Maughan; and daughters-in-law, Ione Harper Allen and Laurie Briggs Allen. Other survivors include 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Jack Matkin, Wade (Faye) Howell. Doyle (Naudine) Howell, and sister, Shirley May.

Athalie was preceded in dearh by her parents: her husband, David; sons, David Mark and Brent two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for both Athalic and David were held Saturday, March 10 at rhe Twentieth Ward Chapel, Brigham City under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Brigham City.

Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery.
