SUNSET - Brent Howell Allen, 46, was called home to his Father in Heaven surrounded by family on Sept. 6, 1995 after a short but valiant battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Provo, Utah, to David Ethan Allen and Nora Athalie Howell Allen. He married Laurie Ann Briggs Sept. 8, 1912, in the SAII LAKE LDS Temple.

Brent graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City. He received both a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University. He was an electrical engineer and computer programmer, having worked in China Lake, Calif., for 1 1/2 years and at Hill Air Force Base for 19 years. He volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps, serving four years and receiving an honorable discharge in 1971.

His family and serving his Father in Heaven and his fellow men were the greatest joys of his life. He also loved reading, gardening and gourmet cooking. Brent was beloved as a husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Brent was preceded in death by his father, David E. Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife and eternal companion of 23 years, Laurie; his children, Jennifer Allen Baker, Logan; Eric Ethan Allen, Charlotte, N.C.; Elizabeth Ann and Barbara Jane Allen, who reside with their mother in Sunset: his mother, Athalie Allen; brothers, David M. Allen, R. Bruce Allen, and Dr. Michael E. Allen; and sister, Athalie Maughan, all of Brigham City, Utah.

Brent is a member of the Sunset LDS 6th Ward, holding the office of High Priest. His many church callings have included Ward Execntive Secretary, Scout Leader, teacher, home teacher, quorum advisor and "friend to little children."

Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sunset LDS Stake Center Interment was in the Brigham City Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Roy. Military honors were accorded by the VFW.
