Elmer Samuel Bertram, age 88 was born, May 1, 1926 the son of the late Fount and Maggie Denney Bertram. He departed this life Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Unit in Somerset.

On July 5, 1947 he united in marriage with his wife of 67 years, Thelma Raines Bertram who survives. To this union three children survive: Sherry and husband Bennie Garland, Danny and wife Brenda Bertram and Doug and wife Debbie Bertram.

Also surviving are grandchildren: Cortney Richardson, Alisha Morris, Daniel and Joe Garland, Tonia Middleton, Crystal Collins, Amy and Danielle Withrowe, Brandy Stephens and Sammy Bertram; Great grandchildren: Tate, Elly, Riggs, Nathan, Benjamin, Mika, Emery, Morgan, Jackson, Jonah, Brennan, Kainen, Elin, Reeve and Ava; Siblings: Gladys Watson, Imogene Hill, Doris Brown, Bill and Bobby Bertram.

He is preceded in death by his sisters: Beatrice Abbott and Lucille Morris and brother: Fred Ray Bertram.

Sam served his country with honor during the Second World War in the Marines. He was the owner and operator of Bertram Oil Distributors. Sam was a member of the Monticello Camp of Gideon's and was attending the Monticello Church of the Nazarene.
