John Shelby Wells was born Feb 5, 1859 in what was then Izard County, Arkansas; later it became Fulton County. His parents were John Wells and Mahala Caroline Isenhower.

On Nov 3, 1883, he married Itasca Trifinia Cox at Belva, Scott Co., Arkansas near Ione.

Their children: Albert Leroy, Cora Ethel, Ola Caroline, William Ray, Luna C., and Zelma Pearl.

J.S. WELLS DIES AT HIS SALMON HOME

Mr. J.S. Wells, 81, died Monday night, Dec. 23, 1940, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cora Trigg, at Salmon.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Guiceland Cemetery with Rev. Lester Burdick, pastor of the Elkhart Church of Christ, officiating.

Survivors include a son, Ray Wells, of Salmon; three daughters, Mrs. Ola Gaines, Salmon, Mrs. Zelma Dunnam, Grapeland, and Mrs. Cora Trigg of Salmon; 16 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
