Ruby Sarah Payne Godfrey was joyously reunited with her husband, John; son, Richard; brothers, sister, father and mother on October 6, 2014 at age 95.

She was born in a log cabin in Bloomington, Idaho on August 23, 1919, a daughter of Ernest Payne and Mildred Aland Payne. Ruby used a coal stove for cooking and heating. The family's method of transportation was a horse and wagon. She traded eggs for candy and groceries.

After graduating from high school in Paris, Idaho, Ruby came to Brigham City to work in the cannery where she met John H. Godfrey. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 10, 1939. They were later blessed with three children. They were married 58 years. John passed away on May 28, 1997.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Relief Society Presidency. She and John served a mission in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Ruby was a hard worker all her life and retired from the Intermountain Intertribal School in 1980. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she obtained Exemplar, Preceptor and Laureate Degrees and attained the Honor of the Order of the Rose, a distinction that exemplifies the gratitude and esteem of her Chapter.

The joy of her life was her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great, great grandchild.

Surviving is her son, John Ray (Mickey) Godfrey, daughter, Ruby KayLynn (Larry) Stevens, sister-in-law, Darlene Payne, seven grandchildren: Jan, Hallie, Scott, Michael, Chad, April, and Heather; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, son Richard Ernest Godfrey, brothers: James Payne, Aland Payne, sister Myrna Treese, and one great grandchild.

Special thanks to Family Tree of Morgan, UT and to the people who she truly loved for their more than compassionate service and love for our mother and grandmother.
