Abe is a son of James and Malinda (Templin) Mauk. He married Florence Susan Clark in 1873, they have eleven children, Lucky, Glennie, Eppie, George, Decatur, Lula, James, Anna, Bill, Hobson, and one stillborn child. Family Records

Abraham Mauk was a contractor and builder in Johnson City and according to an article in the local newspaper when he died "…for his honesty and integrity in all walks of life he won the enviable title of 'Honest Abe.'

He appears on the 1860 and 1870 Censuses with his parents, James and Malinda.
