Emerson W. Abell, 84, well respected and much loved resident of Warren Center passed away at his home on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010.

A life long resident of Warren Center, Emerson was born on Feb. 3, 1926, a son of the late DeLeon and Bernice (Pendleton) Abell. He attended school in Warren Center until the 11th grade and was a graduate of Vestal High School. On Oct. 8, 1949, he married Alice Allyn and together they shared many happy memories building Abell Farms.

A hardworking entrepreneur Emerson was the owner of Emerson Abell Construction which continues to be operated by his son Daniel. Devoted to his community, Emerson was a long time member of the Warren Township Fire Department where he served as fire warden for over 50 years. In addition, Emerson served on the Northeast Bradford School Board, was a member of the Warren Center United Methodist Church, shared fellowship with his friends at the Warren Center Independent Bible Church and the Warren Center Senior Center. Always willing to assist others in need, Emerson was a founding member of HIP a mission group who assisted Midwest Indian Missions. He also was a committee member for the Bradford County Republican Committee, a member of the Gideons, and the Union of Operating Engineers. Emerson was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour books and enjoyed spending time out doors.

His greatest pleasure was found being surrounded by his loving family. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke out hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
