Gladys was born March 15, 1915 in Lakeview, Oregon to Fred Bert and Bessie Mae (Jones) Frisby. She grew up traveling in Oregon with her parents and four brothers. Her mother died when she was 14. She married William Howes (Tud) Phinney in 1933 in San Diego, California. In 1959, they moved to Cove, Oregon. They purchased a farm in Cove and raised cherries and pigs until 1970s. Gladys loved gardening, antiques and traveling. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her 3 children; Charles and his wife Jo of Cove, Louise and her husband Howard "Eugene" Evans of Cove, and William "Bill" and his wife Yeanie of Green Valley, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bessie, and granddaughter, Karen Phinney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cove Quick Response Team or a charity of your choice in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 4th Street, La Grande OR 97850.
