Wallace Lee (Lee) Belcher, aged 87, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Keller, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2014 with his grandson, Nic Belcher officiating. Mr. Belcher will be
cremated and his children will spread his ashes, along with those of his wife — Glo, on their favorite golf course in Colorado.

Mr. Belcher was born on April 24, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas and was a resident of Amarillo, until approximately five years ago, when he moved to the Dallas area.

Mr. Belcher joined the US Navy when he was only 16 years old (against his
mother’s wishes and despite the fact that 17 was the minimum age for enlistment) and proceeded to serve honorably on the USS Topeka in World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a signaler and later as a first mate on a Higgins boat.

Upon his discharge from the Navy, he began training under the GI bill with Homer Damron at Zales as a jeweler. He continued in this occupation until his retirement in 2001.

In 1973, he married the love of his life, Glo, and they were married for almost 36 years, before she passed away in 2009. He and Glo traveled the world and also shared a passion for golf. Mr. Belcher was an excellent golfer who could shoot his age well into his 80’s. He was always proud of the fact that none of his sons were ever able to beat him in a game of golf.

Mr. Belcher was an avid sports fan — particularly if one of his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were involved. Just two weeks before his death, he proudly attended a great-grandaughter’s soccer game.

Mr. Belcher was preceded in death by his wife, Glo, his parents, Alan and Beulah Belcher, and his brother, Curtis.

Mr. Belcher is survived by three sons and a daughter of a previous marriage, as well as by two step-daughters. He will be sorely missed by his 29 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Belcher was a Baptist.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to a favorite charity.

The family will be at 3004 Rolling Wood Lane, Keller, TX 76248.
