She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Nappanee. Dorothy and Paul had four children, a daughter Sharon, and three sons Donovan Harvey, Paul Jr., and Alan Lee Sechrist. Her husband Paul died on August 6, 1973. She never remarried and moved out west to live with her daughter.
