Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Absalom Chessher, 56, 104 Hummingbird Road, Fort Walton Beach. Mr. Chessher died Sunday in the Fort Walton Beach Hospital.

Born in Florida, Mr. Chessher was a civil service employee at Eglin AFB and a member of the Church of Christ.

Services were held from McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel with Tommy Thomas and Hardy Eubanks officiating. Interment was at Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Chessher is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella C. Chessher of Fort Walton Beach; three sons, Nathan A. of Crestview, Danny E. of Pensacola, and Bruce W. of Fort Walton Beach; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara A. Pike of Huntsville, Ala., and Miss Karen Marie Chessher of Fort Walton Beach; his mother, Mrs. Esther Chessher of Escambia Farms; four brothers, Malone and Durant, both of Orlando, Calvin of Escambia Farms, and Osborne of Biloxi, Miss.; six sisters, Mrs. Viola Cook and Mrs. Lucilla Steele, both of Escambia Farms; Mrs. Nancy B. Stephens of South Carolina, Mrs. Flora G. Haws of Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. Dorothy Hege of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Mrs. Adaline Gavin of Blounts Creek, N.C.; and two grand-children.
