John W. Wardlow, Jr., age 88, of 1310 Hugenberg Lane, Fowler, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in his home. He was born on April 15, 1925 in Quincy, a son of John W. & Hazel (Darnell) Wardlow. He married Freeda Pinkston on November 24, 1949. She survives.

John worked at Gardner Denver. He also owned and operated Wardlow's Excavating for many years.

He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping & hunting. He loved tinkering in the garage and spending time working in his yard.

In addition to his wife, Freeda, survivors include a daughter, Diana Winner of Quincy; two granddaughters, Khris (Don) Johnson of Nebo, IL and Amanda (Jermaine) Walker of Quincy; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brian & Brad Johnson; Cassidie, Meghan & Trae Winner, Tristan & Aiden Walker; five great-great grandchildren, Lyndsey, Khloe, Kaylee & Isabella Johnson and Aubrey Lewis; one step-brother, Eddie Wardlow of Quincy. Several nieces & nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Aaron Wardlow and sisters, Dessie Patrick, Lillian Saylor, Tudie Hutchison & Edith York.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bible Baptist Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 at the church. Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church.
