"Gertie Birch - Ellison Chowchilla -- Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Worden Funeral Chapel in Chowchilla for Gertie L. Birch-Ellison, 85, who died Tuesday in a Chowchilla hospital.
Don Grimm will conduct the Jehovah Witness services and burial will be in Chowchilla District Cemetery. Mrs. Birch-Ellison, a homemaker, was born May 13, 1899 in Couch, Mo.. She came to Chowchilla in 1937. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include three sons, Carl E. Birch of Chowchilla and Willian and Robert Birch, both of Salinas; two daughters, Faye Pressley of Chowchilla and Raye Wade of Delhi; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Birch, in 1957, and a daughter, Mallie O. VanCuren, in 1978."
