Evelyn C. Rickert, 84, of 101 Horners Road in Carlisle, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1920, in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Mabel V. (Miller) Cornman.

A 1937 graduate of Carlisle High School, she was an assistant to the librarian at Cumberland Valley High School for more than 15 years.

She was a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church, Carlisle, and a volunteer at Bosler Free Library, Carlisle. She enjoyed reading, sewing and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Rickert is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ben H. Rickert; a son, Robert C. Rickert of Athens; a daughter, JoAnn R. Kern of Jamison; a brother, Wilmer R. Cornman of Augusta, Ga.; a sister, Betty Marston of Newville; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ben H. Rickert Jr.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
