BAKER HILL, ALABAMA. . .Billy G. Jernigan, a resident of Baker Hill, Alabama, died Monday morning, September 29, 2014, in the Dale Medical Center in Ozark. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2014, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ross Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the County Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, between Abbeville and Eufaula. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311 or to the Gideons International, Barbour County Camp, c/o Danny Lynn, P.O. Box 1257, Eufaula, AL 36072.

Mr. Jernigan was born in Lawrenceville, Alabama, son of the late Alpheus Buck Jernigan and Mary Emmaline Lucas Jernigan. He was a member of the County Line Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Jernigan was formerly employed by the W.L. Petrey Foods of Montgomery. In earlier years, he was employed by the Piggly Wiggly in Elba as store manager and also had served as the assistant manager of the Piggly Wiggly in Eufaula. Mr. Jernigan was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Jernigan.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Watson Jernigan; a daughter, Kay Kilpatrick (Larry), Samson, AL; two sons, Tommy Jernigan (Tina), Hayden, Al; and Buddy Jernigan, Salem, AL; two sisters, Wylena Cutchen and Shirley Burt, both of Eufaula; a sister-in-law, Patricia Jernigan, Pike Road, AL; six grandchildren, Ashlee Jernigan, Clay Jernigan, Erica Garza (Patrick), Reverend Ross Kilpatrick (Amy), April Stapler (Jody), and Emily Thompson (Steven); ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Amelia Lynn (Danny), Eufaula; and a brother-in-law, John Robert Watson (Cathy), Clayton, AL.

Serving as active pallbearers will be John Robert Watson, Danny Lynn, J.P. Watson, Arnie Cutchen, Scottie Morris, Doug Smith, Kevin Spivey, and Lenoye Combs.
