Altha N. Brewster, 84 of Abilene, Kansas passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at her residence. She was born August 3, 1930 in Carlton, Kansas, the daughter of James and Helen (Feris) Sears. On May 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to Jerry D. Brewster in Abilene. He preceded her in death November 2, 1971. Altha worked as a nurse in Abilene and retired in the civil services. In 1948 she enlisted in the Army serving 3 years, being honorably discharged in 1951. Altha is survived by three daughters, Nancy Meade, Debra Rutz and Julie Hanback all of Abilene. 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Jerry Brewster, daughter Kathleen Perkins, grandson Adam Brewster, husband Jerry and parents. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 3 at the Abilene City Cemetery with Pastor Justin Panzer officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M. at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Altha Brewster Memorial Fund.
