Mrs. Susan Sander, 83, lifelong resident of the Victoria community, died Thursday night in St. Anthony Hospital.

She was born March 25, 1885 in Munjor.

Survivors include six sons, Fred of Salina, Richard A. of Great Bend, Francis of Sycamore, Ill., Bill of Garden Grove, Calif., Ben of Brighton, Colo., and Edward of Elgin, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Albina Davis of Salina, Mrs. Teresa Durdand of Salina, Mrs. Ellen McCune of Salina, and Mrs. Victor (Pauline) Fross of Hays; one stepdaughter, Sr. Teckela of Oshkosh, Wis.; three stepsons, Alois Sander of Munellen, Ill., Ray A. Sander of Victoria, and Edmund Sander of Petaluma, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Sander was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Fidelis Church, Victoria. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The parish rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary will say the rosary at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, both at Cline’s Mortuary in Victoria. The body will lie in state after 5 p.m. Saturday and until the hour of service.

Victoria -- Balthaser W. "Bill" Sanders, 73, Victoria, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 1990, at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays.

Mr. Sanders was born Feb. 4, 1917, at Victoria and lived most of his life in California, moving back to Victoria in 1980.

He moved to St. John's Rest Home, Victoria, this year. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a groundskeeper for a college in California and a member of the St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1751.

Survivors include three brothers, Edward of Great Bend, Frank of Sycamore, Ill., and Ben of Black Hawk, S.D.; and a sister, Albina Davis of Salina.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, the Rev. Gene Emrisek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, followed by a vigil service at 8 p.m. at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Fidelis Charitable Fund.
