Her birth mother and father were Mary Beaber/Earp/Renner and Henry L. Earp. Mary's obituary mentions Martha's (LaVerne's) name as a surviving daughter. She must have been adopted out after her parents were divorced because Martha's maiden name was Brannon. The 1910 Census reports that Martha's father and mother were Robert F. and Mossie L Brannon. They must have adopted her not long before that time because Mr. & Mrs. Brannon were married in 1900.
