CIVIL WAR VETERAN AND HOTEL KEEPER
Aaron W. Clapp, a Well Known Character Throughout this Section, is Dead
Aaron W. Clapp of Kennedy, a veteran of the Civil War, died at the home of his son, M. L. Clapp, in Jamestown, at 4 o'clock Monday morning, aged 75 years, eight months and seven days.
Mr. Clapp was widely known throughout this section of the country, and was highly respected. For 25 years he conducted the hotel at Ellington and was justice of the peace at Kennedy at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary S. Clapp; a daughter, Mrs. Leroy Rublee of Ellington; a son, M. L. Clapp of Jamestown; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Clapp was a member of Company K, 112th New York Regiment. The funeral was held from the late home at Kennedy Thursday at noon.


Enlisted in Company K, 112th Infantry Regiment New York on 29 August 1862. Discharged because of wounds Company K, 112th Infantry Regiment New York on 29 July 1863 in Hampton, VA. Died Dec. 12, 1915.
