Amory- Clara Doris Poe Burroughs, 91, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. Born September 3, 1922 in Ecru, she was the daughter of Irvin Baker and Clara Sue Browning. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her grandparents, E.L. and Cinda Browning.

She graduated Ecru School. A devout Christian, she loved spreading the love of Jesus Christ and his faithfulness. She attended First Baptist Church, St. Andrews Methodist Church and North MS Worship Center. She was employed by Amory Middle School and Wal Mart during her 66 years in Amory.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Poe Clement; brothers, Dr. Clayton Baker, MD, Frances Baker (Laverlin “B”); grandchildren, Charles Clay Clement, Krysti Poe, Thomas Poe (Ladell) and Miranda Williams; great granddaughter, Mileya McKitchen; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Poe and Vance (Buddy) Burroughs; daughter, Jan Poe Carr; son, Tommy Poe; brother, Billy Baker; nephew, David Baker.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dewey Hannon, John Darden, Frank Dugas, Dusty Thompson, Bob Carr and Lloyd Williams.

Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10am until service time.
